Salvation in Jesus is the reason for every Christian’s faith. This was the theme of Pastor Joel Engel’s message on December 10, highlighting the power of Christ as the only door to freedom and eternal life.

“The Bible says that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Since our birth, we have carried the mark of sin and are lost, but the truth — which is Jesus Christ — offers us freedom,” said Engel, referring to the Scriptures in Romans 3:23 and John 8:32.

The pastor recalled the story of the Philippian jailer, recorded in Acts 16. After a supernatural earthquake freed Paul and Silas from prison, the desperate jailer asked what he should do to be saved. Paul’s answer, mentioned by Engel, is an eternal promise: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

Before meeting Jesus, Engel said that he sought answers in deceptive ways, including making pacts with evil forces:

“I thought I was following something good, but I was mistaken. That’s when I discovered that there is a door that leads to victory, and that door is Jesus. There is no other way to heaven, and only in His name we have authority to overcome the forces of evil.”

The pastor emphasized the power in the name of Jesus: “Demons can come one way, but they will flee seven ways before the authority of the name of Christ. He is the one who fights for us against what we cannot see.”

The spiritual world is real

The pastor also warned that it is necessary to understand spiritual battles. “Many times, the problems we face—whether financial crisis, illnesses, or family conflicts—are reflections of what is happening in the spiritual world. We need to know the spiritual weapons that God has given us.”

Among these weapons, he highlighted prayer, faith in the name of Jesus, the power of the Word of God, and the protection of the blood of the Lamb.

When it comes to spiritual battles, Engel reminds us that God’s children have much stronger armies fighting on their behalf. He highlighted the passage in 2 Kings 6:16-17, when the prophet Elisha prayed for God to open his servant’s eyes so he could see the heavenly army that protected them. “Those who are with us are more than those who are against us. God has already given orders to His angels to protect you and your house.”

The pastor concluded teaching a prayer:

“Declare with all your strength: ‘Jesus, come into my heart, cleanse my house, and bring salvation to me and my family. Place Your angels around us, protecting us from all evil. I ask Your blood over my house and guard us in the name of Jesus.’”
