Apostle Joel Engel, known for his intercession for Brazil and for former President Jair Bolsonaro, has welcomed the results of the 2026 elections as answers to prayers on behalf of the nation. He ties his testimony to a prayer gathering with Pastor Tom Hess at the All Nations Convocation Jerusalem (ANCJ), where representatives of many nations united to pray for Brazil’s future.

During the gathering, participants presented an offering for the spiritual redemption of the country, and Hess delivered prophetic declarations about a new season for Brazil. The prayers were recorded on video. For those present, they expressed a persevering faith in the spiritual and political transformation of the nation.

After the Oct. 4 first round of the presidential race, in which right-wing and conservative parties strengthened their presence in Brazil’s Congress, Engel and fellow intercessors are giving thanks for what they see as God’s answer to their prayers.

“Prayer for the nation is not limited to words. It is an expression of spiritual commitment to the country’s future, its leaders and its institutions. The advance of the right and the strengthening of conservative representation in our Congress are reasons for gratitude and for renewed faith,” Engel said.

His testimony reaches Christians in Brazil and many other nations, and he says it keeps alive the flame of round-the-clock intercession, which he considers vital to Brazil’s future.

An Answer to Prayer

The group saw the election of representatives aligned with Christian values as a sign that its prayers for the nation were not in vain. From this perspective of faith, the right’s political mobilization and growing presence in Congress are part of the new season they had long prayed for.

In the presidential race, Flávio Bolsonaro of the Liberal Party (PL) finished the first round ahead with 47.04% of valid votes, against 45.15% for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Workers’ Party (PT). Because no candidate won more than half of the valid votes, a runoff will decide the presidency on Oct. 25.

For Engel, the outcome is a cause for celebration and hope, particularly in light of the prayers offered for the Bolsonaro family and Brazil’s political future.

Conservatives Gains Ground in Congress

The conservative advance was also reflected in the legislature. The PL won 121 of the 513 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, making it the largest caucus in the lower house. Under the ideological classification used in the survey cited, right-wing parties together hold 303 seats.

In the Senate, the PL now holds 28 of 81 seats, up from 15. That makes it the largest party bloc in the upper chamber, which, under constitutional rules, judges impeachment proceedings against justices of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF). A national survey by a political website also found that 49 of the 81 senators, whether newly elected or serving unfinished terms, are aligned with right-wing parties. This underscores the strength of the conservative camp in the next legislative term.

This “new Congress” is expected to shape debates on public security, the economy, religious freedom, freedom of expression and the accountability of public officials. Some on the right are interested in the possible opening of impeachment proceedings against STF justices. Conviction requires 54 votes in the Senate.

For the intercessors, these numbers are more than electoral data. They receive them with thanksgiving and as signs of hope for Brazil’s future.

Michelle Bolsonaro Among Highlights

The election of Michelle Bolsonaro to the Senate was another milestone. The wife of former President Jair Bolsonaro, is well-known for her Christian faith. She ran in the Federal District and received about 938,000 votes, or 29.05% of valid votes and was elected alongside Bia Kicis, both of the PL.

Her victory expands the female presence in conservative representation. It also strengthens the political role of a public figure with a strong following among Brazilian Christians.

At ANCJ, participants also prayed for the freedom of Jair Bolsonaro as part of their intercession for the Bolsonaro family and the country’s political future.

A New Season for the Nation

The meeting with Hess left a record of prayer, surrender and expectation. The offering for spiritual redemption, the prophetic declarations and the moments of intercession now take on new meaning in light of the election results.

“The advance of the conservatives is an answer from God to the cry for the nation and a reason to keep believing in Brazil’s transformation. Let us keep praying for the authorities, the institutions and the Brazilian people, trusting that God can lead the nation into a new season of justice, freedom and restoration,” Engel concluded.
