Jerusalem is facing decisive days. An official U.S. delegation arrived in Israel to continue discussions aimed at advancing a peace agreement. Meetings were scheduled for Tuesday (21) at the King David Hotel, one of the city’s most traditional venues, often described as a “mini White House.”
Participants include U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, Jared Kushner—former presidential adviser and son-in-law of Donald Trump—and peace negotiations coordinator Steve Wittkoff. The delegation’s mission is to prevent renewed conflict and ensure progress in diplomatic talks.
Pastor Joel Engel, who has been closely following the negotiations, is currently in Jerusalem, leading an international movement of intercession for peace in Israel.

“It’s time to pray for the peace of Jerusalem”
On Tuesday morning, Engel and his son, Tiago Engel, met with Pastors Tom and Katy Hess, founders of the Jerusalem House of Prayer for All Nations, at the King David Hotel. Together, they held a session of prayer and intercession, asking for peace and blessing the diplomatic meetings taking place there.
“Pastor Joel was with us at our conference, then returned to Brazil but felt God calling him again. He phoned me and said, ‘I am at the King David Hotel,’” said Tom Hess. “I sensed spiritually that it was important for him to be here now. He followed the direction of the Holy Spirit.”
Hess noted that October 21 is a symbolic date, when Israel and many nations unite in prayer for what is known as the “Highway of Holiness” or “Highway of Prayer,” inspired by the prophecy in Isaiah 19:23–25, which speaks of a spiritual connection between Egypt, Assyria, and Israel. “Today is the day Israel prays for this spiritual highway,” he said. “We prayed for God’s purpose to prevail in this meeting—‘Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, here at the King David Hotel, on earth as it is in heaven.’”
72 hours of fasting and praying for peace
Engel’s second trip to Israel during this ceasefire period, was prompted by a prophetic dream. “I woke up at 3 a.m. and saw Israel and Brazil separated. Then I saw myself with the Brazilian flag on one side and the president of Israel with the Israeli flag on the other. Suddenly, the flags united as in a marriage,” he recounted.
He interpreted the dream as a call for a spiritual connection between Brazil and Israel. Then, Engel and the Hesses launched a 72-hour movement of prayer and fasting for peace. “We are creating a great prayer chain,” Engel said. “The expectation is enormous, and the suffering of the people over the last two years is indescribable. The mothers of Israel are like wounded lionesses, fighting for their cubs. Israel is a lioness that does not give up the fight.”
From the King David Hotel, Engel described the current moment as “historic and prophetic.” “We are living in a time of prophetic significance. In the last days, the world’s attention will be on Jerusalem, because this is the city of the Great King, from where Jesus will return in the clouds,” he said.
Engel emphasized that, in his faith, true peace will only be complete with the return of Christ. However, every prayer contributes to that goal. “We know that only when He returns will there be complete peace. But today we pray for that peace to manifest, even briefly, and for the children of Israel to see the fulfillment of the Word,” he said, quoting the prophet Zechariah: “Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem… The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there… and it will be called, ‘The City of Peace.’
